On January 4, 2024, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) explained the purpose of daily prayer vigils held by believers near the walls of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Archpriest Valeriy Kravets shared that during the communal prayer near the monastery, believers express gratitude to God for His mercies and blessings. Congratulating the worshippers on Christmas, he reminded them that Christ came to earth to save humanity.
"He opened the doors to paradise for us. We will pray and ask God for the merciful Lord to open the doors to this sanctuary, to the holy Lavra, so that we can perform services, pray, repent for our sins, and thank God for everything He sends us," Father Valeriy said.
Previously, it was reported by the UOJ that believers of the UOC continued their prayer vigils near the Lavra in the new year.
