Ukrainian Member of Parliament Petro Poroshenko stated that his team had been negotiating with the Phanar to obtain the Tomos since 2015. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
According to him, since 2015, the state and authorities have been doing everything possible to ensure the day of granting the Tomos for the OCU.
The fifth president also believes that today "no one dares to ask what it was all for."
Poroshenko also thanked the head of the OCU, Serhiy Dumenko, for "ensuring unity and multiplying the strength of the OCU" in such a difficult, war-torn time.
As reported by the UOJ, on the anniversary of the "unification council", Poroshenko stated that they had created their own church at that time, and the UOC is no longer needed in Ukraine.
