On the evening of January 18, 2024, an inter-faith prayer service for the "unity of Christians" was held at the Kyiv Cathedral of the UGCC, attended by KDAiS Professor and UOC DECR employee Serhiy Bortnyk. A report on the event is posted on the official UGCC website.
The service, which took place within the framework of the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, was led by the hierarch of the UGCC, Bishop Joseph Milian, concelebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican Visvaldas Kulbokas and representatives of Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant denominations.
Bishop Milian emphasized that the event took place at the Cathedral that unites Greek Catholics worldwide. He stated that the word sown in this temple strengthens the faith of the entire people.
The Uniate bishop thanked all the participants in the service and called on them to work on a "new, better project that would develop our unity." According to him, gathering only in January to pray for the unity of the Churches "will be not enough even for the Lord God."
"Therefore, I call for another, better, more substantive format of prayer for the unity of the holy Churches of God," Milian addressed those present.
Earlier, the UOJ analyzed the participation of some representatives of the UGCC in ecumenical events in the article "Dialogue to the Grinder Sound: Who UOC ‘Negotiators’ with OCU Represent".
