During the night of January 22, 2024, an unknown assailant attacked Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny, striking the hierarch in the face. This was reported by Metropolitan Longin himself, whose response was published on the Facebook page of the Bancheny Monastery.
It was also noted there that due to the blow, Metropolitan Longin lost consciousness, and a surgical intervention was performed on his eyelids.
"They knocked on the door 3 times, and when I opened it, I received a blow. <...> Now I feel fine! Everything remains in the mercy and judgment of God," added the hierarch.
As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Longin underwent heart surgery.
