Iryna Herashchenko, an MP from ex-President Petro Poroshenko's party "European Solidarity", stated that the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, the lawyer of the UOC Robert Amsterdam is spreading fakes and putting pressure on the Parliament of Ukraine.

"Members of Parliament have received another letter from lawyer Robert Amsterdam regarding the vote on bill 8371 on banning Moscow priests. Amsterdam again threatens sanctions for the vote and demands to refrain from adopting the law," Herashchenko wrote.

She states that the MPs bear no legal responsibility for voting in the Verkhovna Rada and views Amsterdam's activities as "an attempt to interfere in the work of the Verkhovna Rada and pressure on deputies, spreading lies against other state institutions."

The MP noted that "European Solidarity" has appealed to the Security Service of Ukraine to assess Amsterdam's actions and inquired whether sanctions should be imposed on the lawyer.

"At the next session of the Verkhovna Rada, we will demand the consideration of the bill in the second reading," Herashchenko concluded.

As reported, American lawyer Robert Amsterdam wrote another letter to Members of Parliament urging them to send bill 8371 to the Venice Commission.
