In the last days of Great Lent believers at the prayer standing near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra especially prayed for forgiveness of their sins and transgressions. Every day Christians kneeled to read the penitential prayer of Ephrem the Syrian.
On April 22, 2024, after the end of the prayer near his shrine, a clergyman of the UOC addressed those praying, urging everyone to remember the main purpose of a Christian's life and the Lenten period in particular.
"Lent must have goals. If one has not achieved something, it is necessary to recognize their weakness and draw conclusions. And if one has achieved something, one should remember that the goal of a Christian is very high. We are all called to holiness!" he said.
As the UOJ wrote, believers come to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra every day to pray for their shrine, for priests and believers who suffer persecution for their religious beliefs.
