The brethren of the Holy Sviatohirsk Lavra are intensifying their prayers for their abbot, Metropolitan Arseny, who has been under arrest since April 24, as reported on the monastery's website svlavra.church.ua.
On April 24, on the day of searches in the monastery and the arrest of the bishop, at 1:00 PM, a conciliar moleben with an akathist to the Mother of God before the miraculous Sviatohirsk Icon of the Mother of God was served in the Assumption Cathedral.
On the same day, the brethren of the monastery began to read the akathist to the Protection of the Mother of God before the miraculous icon around the clock.
The sisters of the skete in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in the village of Bohorodychne, who have been living in the Lavra since May 2022, also took on an additional prayerful feat. They alternately read akathists to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and to the Commander of the Heavenly Host, Archangel Michael, only interrupting for the scheduled divine services.
In addition, the sisters of the skete do not cease reading the Unceasing Psalter, remembering the names written in the skete sinodicles.
"The prayer for Metropolitan Arseny in the Lavra does not cease day or night. In addition to reading the Psalter by the brethren of the Lavra and the sisters of the skete (separately), they also engage in round-the-clock reading of three akathists: to the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos before the miraculous Sviatohirsk Icon of the Mother of God, to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and to the Commander of the Heavenly Host, Archangel Michael," the message says.
The brethren also ask all concerned to strengthen their prayers for Metropolitan Arseny.
As the UOJ wrote, the monks and inhabitants of the Sviatohirsk Lavra wrote an appeal regarding the arrest of Metropolitan Arseny. The Lavra brethren believe that the accusations brought by the SBU against Metropolitan Arseny are fabricated and unfounded.
