Metropolitan Onufriy of Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv expressed condolences to the families of those who died as a result of air strikes on the city of Kharkiv on May 23, 2024, according to the website of the Kharkiv Eparchy of the UOC.

"In these days, a cruel struggle is being waged against our people, against the peaceful existence of the Ukrainian people in general, cities and villages are being destroyed. But we believe that at all times the truth of God cannot be defiled, that evil, by the power of the Risen Christ, cannot prevail over goodness and love," the bishop said.

Metropolitan Onufriy noted that the clergy and believers of the Kharkiv Eparchy pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

"May the All-Merciful Lord repose the souls of the innocent in His dwellings," the hierarch wished.

In Kharkiv, May 24 was declared a day of mourning for the citizens who died on May 23 during a massive Russian missile attack on the city's civilian infrastructure.

As reported by the UOJ, on April 4, the Kharkiv Eparchy expressed condolences to the victims of the overnight attack on the city.
