Tkachenko: Shmyhal's meeting with Pat. Ilia important for recognizing OCU

Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Alexander Tkachenko said that the meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal with Patriarch Ilia of Georgia is important for the recognition of the OCU.

Tkachenko wrote on his Telegram channel that during his joint visit to Georgia with Shmyhal, “meetings were held not only as part of government delegations but also with the Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia”.

“The meeting of the Prime Minister with the Patriarch is very important for the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine by one of the oldest Orthodox Сhurches in the world – Georgian,” the Minister of Culture said.

After listing a number of meetings with representatives of the Georgian government, Tkachenko noted that “everyone understands that strengthening work in the international arena in the Ukraine-Moldova-Georgia triangle – countries that have suffered from Russian aggression and have a common goal – can enhance our position in cooperation with our Western partners ".

As reported earlier, the Prime Minister of Ukraine met with the Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia.

According to the Ukrainian political expert, head of "The Third Sector" centre Andrey Zolotarev, the meeting of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal with the Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia during an official visit to this country could be dictated by the sympathies of the current government towards the OCU.
