OCU Primate reveres relics of Sts Job and Amphilochius in Pochaiv Lavra

On June 3, 2024, His Beatitude Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada (Orthodox Church in America) visited the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

In the Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon led a moleben. The Primate of the OCA was concelebrated by Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets, Chairman of the Information and Education Department of the UOC Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, the abbot of the monastery Volodymyr Metropolitan of Pochaiv, the rector of the Pochaiv Spiritual Seminary Archbishop Job of Shumsk, the rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Bishop Kleopa of Novoselytsa, and brethren and guests in the priesthood.

After the moleben, His Beatitude addressed those present with words of support for His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and the Ukrainian people. In a sign of unity in Christ, the Primate of the OCA presented an icon of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the Pochaiv Lavra as a gift.

In a response speech, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra, Metropolitan Volodymyr, expressed gratitude to the Primate of the American Church and presented His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon with the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Pochaivska".

Then the Primate of the OCA revered the relics of the Venerable Job and Amphilochius, the wonderworkers of Pochaiv, and also visited the Transfiguration and Holy Trinity cathedrals of the Lavra.

As reported by the UOJ, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada expressed his support for the Primate and the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and called on the civil authorities of Ukraine to respect religious freedom in the country and abide by international law.
