Representatives of the Bulgarian political party «Възраждане» ("Revival") believe that the Bulgarian Orthodox Church is being led to a schism similar to what already exists in Ukraine.
In a statement from the party, it is said that "the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, like the Bulgarian state, is guided by the Ukrainian scenario."
"Our Church is being led to a schism like the Ukrainian one, and our state to war like the Ukrainian state," the statement said.
The «Възраждане» ("Revival") party also wrote that "if we want to assess the consequences of this schism, each of us can carefully study the schism in the Ukrainian Church, the persecutions, and physical attacks on priests there."
As previously reported by the UOJ, representatives of the Bulgarian Church concelebrated with OCU "hierarchs" in Istanbul, after which Bulgarian priests demanded that bishops who co-served with the OCU "hierarchs" be judged, and believers of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church staged a protest outside the Holy Synod building.
