In Cherkasy, the press service of the Sosnivsky Court has appealed to the National Police to ensure order outside the building where hearings are being held regarding the case of Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, as stated on the court's Facebook page.
The court staff were disturbed by the situation on June 7, 2024, when radicals staged a protest during which it was planned that Metropolitan Theodosiy would walk past portraits of the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church and the President of the Russian Federation in order to enter the building. Provocateurs engaged in a scuffle with members of the UOC, pushing a woman and causing her to break her arm.
"The court's press service has already drawn attention to the deliberate escalation of tensions in society surrounding this case and has called for tolerance," the court's statement said.
The Sosnivsky Court urged the local law enforcement to ensure the safety of citizens and for the public to behave calmly and responsibly outside the building.
As reported earlier, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv awarded Nadia Cherniavska, an icon painter, whose arm was broken by radicals, with the distinction "For Faithfulness to the Church and Courage".
