MP Artem Dmytruk published a list of those who are being unjustly persecuted by the Ukrainian authorities for their affiliation with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The deputy noted that the list is far from complete. "Almost every day, there are reports in the news about new charges and arrests of Ukrainian believers and priests. It is not always possible to draw attention to these cases," Dmytruk wrote and urged to remember and pray for those who suffer for their faith and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church!
Dmytruk's list includes:
• Metropolitan Pavel, abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra;
• Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia;
• Metropolitan Arseniy, abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra;
• Metropolitan Yevlohiy of Sumy;
• Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy;
• Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny;
• Metropolitan Ioasaf of Vasylkiv;
• Bishop Nikita of Ivano-Frankivsk;
• Archpriest Serhiy Chertylin;
• Archpriest Dimitriy Sidor, rector of the Holy Cross Cathedral in Uzhhorod;
• Archpriest Mykolai Danylevych, deputy chairman of the UOC Department for External Church Relations;
• Archimandrite Benedict Khromei, a priest of the Khust Eparchy of the UOC;
• Thirteen hierarchs who were illegally deprived of Ukrainian citizenship and several others who faced personal sanctions;
• Valeriy Stupnitsky, Andriy Ovcharenko, and Volodymyr Bobechko (the "Union of Orthodox Journalists" journalists).
As reported by the UOJ, on 27 June 2024, the Prydniprovskyi District Court of Cherkasy decided to place Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv under round-the-clock house arrest again.
