On June 30, 2024, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine sent congratulations to the newly elected Primate of the Bulgarian Patriarchal Throne, His Holiness Patriarch Daniel, Metropolitan of Sofia. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

"The Holy Spirit has manifested His all-good action for the entire fullness of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church by placing you on the high candlestick of Patriarchal service. The crown of Primacy, placed on your head, is the true expression of complete trust from the episcopate, clergy, monastics, and Orthodox people of Bulgaria, which you have earned through your worthy life and Christian wisdom. Your sincere faith in Christ and selfless love for others have become the adornment of the Church of Christ," the message reads.

His Beatitude Onuphry believes that the new Patriarch of the Bulgarian Church has been entrusted with an obedience that requires much strength, patient attention, and measured decisions. All this can be combined only with calm prayer and complete self-sacrifice towards all those around him.

"On the significant day of your election, on behalf of the entire fullness of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, I wholeheartedly wish Your Holiness the gracious help of God in your Primatial service, good health, spiritual strength, and blessed longevity. May the All-Gracious Lord generously endow you and all the faithful under your Patriarchal omophorion with His mercy and abundance," the Primate of the UOC wished.

As the UOJ reported, the enthronement of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch took place on June 30 in Sofia.

In his first speech, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel noted that he did not seek this position.
