Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens expressed strong disapproval of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, particularly criticizing the event that allegedly featured Leonardo da Vinci's painting with drag performers, reports Romfea.

Responding to questions on this matter, the Archbishop stated: "All of this is absolutely contemptible."

As the UOJ reported, the head of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Bartholomew, criticized the Olympics opening ceremony for its parody of Christ's "Last Supper" with the twelve apostles, calling these performances an offense "not only against Christianity and the Holy Gospel but also against every civilized person who recognizes the right to believe and respect religious symbols."
