The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) plans to publish the results of its analysis of the Ukrainian law banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), but this will take some time. This was stated by Ravina Shamdasani, the official representative of the OHCHR, during a briefing.

Earlier, Shamdasani noted that the law banning the UOC in Ukraine raises concerns regarding the adherence to international human rights law. She emphasized, "This law was published on August 26, we have received it and are analyzing it, but this will take time. The results of our analysis will be published."

As reported by the UOJ, on August 20, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a bill that enshrines "the prohibition of activities of religious organizations, particularly those associated with the Russian Federation, on the territory of Ukraine." The law will come into effect 30 days after its publication, and according to this document, the UOC will have nine months to sever ties with the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
