The joint prayer will show Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and the whole world that for the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, faith is their life that they value and will defend. Calls from different regions of Ukraine to join the prayer action of the UOC at the walls of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv, which will take place this Saturday, August 21, 2021, were published on the “Miriane” YouTube channel.
The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church is our history, our culture and an integral part of our life, our Primate is His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, “and we do not need any other primates or any other churches,” stressed Tatyana Tsaruk, the head of the “Miriane” office in Rivne. And if Patriarch Bartholomew comes to Ukraine, he must see and understand this.
“But no matter how things turn out on Saturday, the most important thing for me is that we will gather and jointly pray to God for our Church, for you and me, for each other. And people, believers and non-believers, politicians – the whole world will understand that for the Ukrainians, for the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, our faith is our life, which we value and appreciate. And everything that concerns our Church - our temples, our services – we, who have each other, will stand for all this, we will protect and defend it,” explained the believer of the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC.
The head of the Zhytomyr office of the NGO "Miriane" Viktor Melnichenko also called on believers to join the prayer standing in Kyiv, "to tell everyone that we are the laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is the Church of our forefathers".
“On August 21, I invite you to prayer needed in defence of our Ukrainian Orthodox Church, our Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry. See you!" Vadim Tuz, the head of the “Miriane” movement in the Cherkasy Eparchy, addressed the believers.
As reported, UOC believers are urged to testify to their faith before the Phanar head and come to the building of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on August 21. The beginning of the prayer standing is at 11:00 a.m.
