On September 29, 2024, on the Feast of the Icon of the Mother of God "Look Upon Humility", His Eminence Luke, Metropolitan of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol, spoke to the faithful about why it is important to remain united today.

As reported on the website of the press service of the Zaporizhzhia Eparchy, during his sermon, Metropolitan Luke noted that "there must be a deep connection between relationships and emotions within the Christian community."

Referring to the words of the Apostle Paul, the Metropolitan emphasized the importance of mutual understanding, love, support, and comfort among Christians, and urged the faithful to "care for one another and always remain united as one."

"Where there is unity, support, care, and mutual understanding among believers, the suffering and joy of one person is reflected throughout the entire community," said Metropolitan Luke.

He also reminded the faithful that "a person needs to look more closely into their own heart" because "the more clearly we see our own flaws, the easier it will be for us to fight and correct them."

"Our religion is called the religion of the heart. This is why it is not the number of prostrations or candles lit, but rather the purity of heart and simplicity of soul that the Lord desires," the UOC bishop emphasized.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry reminded the faithful that the wounds of sin are healed through repentance.
