The Serbian Orthodox Church reported that the allocated funds would be directed to the families most affected by the flooding through the Zahumlje and Herzegovina Diocese.

Patriarch Porfirije has instructed that assistance be provided to the victims regardless of their nationality or religious affiliation.

His Holiness called on all the peoples of the Balkans to show solidarity and mutual assistance during these difficult times, particularly in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church asked Orthodox Christians to pray for all those affected, so that the Lord might bring comfort to the families of those who lost their lives in the flooding, and put an end to the suffering and destruction of homes and property that have been built up over generations.

On October 3-4, 2024, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered from severe flooding.

According to the BBC, at least 18 people died as a result of flash floods and landslides in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some towns and villages were cut off, and many homes were flooded.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the Serbian Patriarch discussed the "law banning the UOC" with the Vatican's Secretary of State.
