During archaeological excavations in Jordan, a chalice strikingly similar to the Holy Grail from the Indiana Jones movie was discovered, reports the Daily Mail.

The excavations were conducted in Al-Khazneh, the Temple of the Sun – a Middle Eastern sanctuary known as the "Treasury", where, according to legend, the Holy Grail was kept.

Inside the temple, researchers found a previously unknown hidden tomb, containing the remains of 12 individuals, as well as artifacts made of bronze, iron, and ceramics.

"Meanwhile, among the artefacts was a ceramic chalice that astonishingly resembled the shape of the Holy Grail – a remarkable Indiana Jones reference," said P. Kyle McCarter, executive director of the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR), as reported by the Daily Mail.

Discovery Channel host Josh Gates commented on the find as "'it really was this awesome moment of history imitating art," adding that "in the two centuries that Petra has been investigated by archaeologists, nothing like this has been found before."

As previously reported by the UOJ, Israeli archaeologists discovered a unique artifact in the City of David National Park – an ancient stone seal from the First Temple period.
