On October 16, during a general audience in St. Peter's Square in Rome, Pope Francis stated that "war is always a defeat", Vatican News reports.

On October 17, the Catholic world celebrates the memory of St. Ignatius of Antioch. The Pope recalled the saint's story and told those gathered: "May his example help everyone rediscover the joy of being a Christian."

"Let us not forget the countries at war; let us not forget the much-suffering Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, and Myanmar," the pontiff emphasized. He also urged believers "not to forget that war is always, always a defeat."

"Let us remember this, pray for peace and strive towards it," Pope Francis concluded.

As previously reported by the UOJ, war is a failure for those who consider themselves invincible, according to Pope Francis.
