The press service of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has accused representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) of attempting to discredit Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, referring to a recent video published on OCU platforms. In the video, filmed in the metropolitan’s office, the head of the Cherkasy OCU Diocese, Yaremenko, allegedly used deceit and manipulation to tarnish the bishop's reputation.
The UOC eparchy stated that Yaremenko had brought books mentioning "Russia" into the office and arranged them to cast the metropolitan in a negative light. However, the press service noted that these books bore a stamp that does not belong to the eparchy. Instead of the usual "Eparchial Library" stamp, these books were stamped with the seal of a legal entity belonging to the St. Martyr Daniel Mliyevsky Fund.
According to the UOC, this seal was stolen from the office of Bishop Antoniy, the head of the St. Martyr Daniel Mliyevsky Fund, during the initial raid on the Archangel Michael Cathedral. The raiders allegedly used the stolen seal to fabricate evidence and create a false impression of Metropolitan Theodosiy’s activities.
The Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC condemned these tactics, calling them crude manipulation that is easy to expose.
Previously, the UOJ published a chronology of the takeover of the UOC Cathedral in Cherkasy.
