Ternopil Regional Council declares 2025 as the Year of Uniate Sheptytsky

The regional council has decided to declare 2025 the Year of Andriy Sheptytsky, head of the UGCC, in Ternopil region. As announced on October 29 by the official website of the Ternopil Regional Council, this decision aims to promote the activities of Sheptytsky and recognizes the "significant public importance of the figure and legacy of this prominent Ukrainian."
It is noted that July 29, 2025, will be celebrated at the state level as the 160th anniversary of the birth of Andriy Sheptytskyi (1865-1944).
"According to the decision of the regional council, the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, together with the Ternopil Regional Council, will create an organizing committee for the celebration of the Year of Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky in the region," the statement says.
As previously reported by UOJ, a member of parliament left the Servant of the People Party after his hometown, Chervonohrad, was renamed to Sheptytsky.
