On December 12, 2024, the secretary of the Khust Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Ioann Rozman, was taken to an unknown location by officers of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC).

A video shared by Maryna Cheypesh shows that believers' attempts to prevent the priest's removal from the TCC premises were met with a harsh response. One of the officers fired a warning shot into the air and threatened to shoot people in the legs.

On her Facebook page, Maryna Cheypesh stated, "Our priest has been unjustifiably detained at the Berehove TRC for over 20 hours. We are not being given any explanations – only threats and insults. We are calling for maximum public attention to this matter."

She also emphasized that the priest had all the necessary documents, but TRC officers refused to release him, advising them to address their concerns directly to President Zelensky.

According to Cheypesh, Archpriest Ioann Rozman was taken away in a vehicle and denied the opportunity to communicate with his wife.

Women have filed a police report demanding an investigation into the actions of the TRC officers, including their use of firearms.

The situation regarding the unlawful detention of the clergyman remains tense, and his whereabouts are still unknown.

UPDATED: On December 13, it was reported that the priest was released. MP Artem Dmytruk wrote on his Telegram channel that Fr. Ioann had his documents and personal belongings returned.

Previously, the UOJ reported that two priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were taken to the Khust TRC immediately after Sunday liturgy and held throughout the day, sparking protests from believers and local residents.
