On October 26, 2021, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Great Antioch and all the East, received Hegumen Arseny (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus to the Patriarchal throne of Antioch, according to the website of the Representative Office of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The meeting, which took place in the old part of Damascus, was also attended by the secretary of Patriarch John, Hierodeacon Hilarion (Beshara) and the assistant to the representative of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, General Samir Zakhlavi.

Hegumen Arseny conveyed the greetings and a personal message of Patriarch Kirill to the Patriarch of Antioch. During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of mutual interest.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Church of Antioch called for dialogue for the sake of the unity of Orthodoxy.
