In Chernivtsi, the rector and parishioners of the UOC community of the Protection of the Mother of God Church (Sadgora district) recorded a video statement reaffirming their loyalty to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and opposing the transfer of their church to the OCU. The video was published by the Dozor_kozak1 Telegram channel.
The faithful reported that on January 4, a meeting of the territorial community was held near the local cultural center, during which a decision was made to transfer the church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the OCU. This was announced by Roman Hryshchuk, an active cleric of Dumenko's structure, who also stated that the process of documenting the church's transfer had begun.
"We are with God. They call us the 'Moscow Church', they label us this or that. No. The Church is not 'Moscow', nor is it anyone else's – it is God's Church. Christ is the head of the Church, and no one else. We pray to our Lord Jesus Christ and will continue to pray and glorify Him!"
As reported by the UOJ, the Cherkasy Diocese previously stated that church raiders were planning to seize the St. Nicholas Church of the UOC.
