The hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theoktistos of Fokida, called on the Greek police to check churches and monasteries for the observance of quarantine against coronavirus, reports the Greek resource “Romfea”.

Metropolitan Theoktistos addressed the head of the region's police department with a letter in which he urged law enforcement agencies to check the churches and monasteries of the diocese to determine whether they comply with the quarantine measures prescribed by the state.

Archimandrite Nektarios (Mulatsiotis), explaining the act of Metropolitan Theoktistos of Fokida, complained that some priests of the diocese could die and “some of us were hospitalized in the hospital of Agios Andreas in Patras in a bad condition due to the fact that some inside the holy temples did not observe the measures".

He also said that earlier Metropolitan Theoktistos had sent circulars to the parishes urging them to observe quarantine measures, "however, again, some were not disciplined to the best of their ability".

As reported, the Greek government spokesperson said that the unvaccinated will only be able to do what is needed to survive.
