Annual Missionary Seminar to be Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Repose of St. Tikhon of Moscow

Saint Tikhon of Moscow holds a special place in the hearts of the American faithful, and it is perhaps no coincidence that on the centennial of his repose, the Church in America is once again experiencing a period of noticeable growth and renewed missionary zeal.

The seminar, titled God’s Blessing to America: Saint Tikhon, will take place on March 30, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Mother of God, Joy of All Who Sorrow, in San Francisco. Organizers hope the retreat “will allow us to glimpse the amazing history of Orthodoxy in California, honor our holy predecessors, find inspiration, and prepare for the upcoming centennials.”

Archpriest Peter Perekrestov, Dean of Holy Virgin Cathedral and Secretary of the Western Diocesan Council, will open the day's discussions with a speech titled Orthodox California: An Overview. Following lunch (provided), noted author and historian Matthew Namee will deliver the keynote address on St. Tikhon of San Francisco. With his in-depth knowledge of St. Tikhon’s missionary efforts in America and their lasting impact on the faithful, there is little doubt that Mr. Namee’s presentation will be a fitting tribute to the saint’s memory.

The conference will also feature the award-winning documentary Sacred Alaska, showcasing the profound influence of Orthodoxy on Alaskan culture.

A range of ticketing options is available, and those who register before March 16 will receive a discounted rate. (Register here.)
