Archdeacon George Shishim Falls Asleep in the Lord

The announcement was posted to the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America's website, where more information is available.

His Eminence Metropolitan Saba, His Grace Bishop Anthony, and the hierarchs, clergy and laity of the Antiochian Archdiocese extend their love and sympathies to the family and friends of Archdeacon George. May his memory be eternal!

Born in 1946, he dedicated 45 years to serving at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles, where he mentored generations of altar servers and clergy. Ordained in 1976 and elevated to archdeacon in 1986, he was revered as a spiritual father to many.

Honored for his quiet yet profound service, he received the Medal of St. Raphael of Brooklyn on his 40th anniversary in the diaconate. Despite his many contributions, he humbly said, "It’s more than I deserve." His spiritual sons, along with his surviving family, mourn his passing while giving thanks for his life of faith.

Funeral arrangements will be announced on Antiochian.org

May the Lord remember His servant, the Archdeacon George Shishim, in His Kingdom; and may his Memory be Eternal.
