SITKA, AK—The Russian Orthodox Diocese of Sitka and Alaska of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), announced the release of a new video series on the meaning of Holy relics in the Orthodox Faith.

The series will be narrated by Archbishop Alexei of Sitka, who will guide the faithful in uncovering the meaning behind the Holy relics of the Orthodox Faith. The series can be found on the Diocesan YouTube channel by clicking here.

The series is especially timely with the upcoming festivities surrounding the canonization of St. Olga of Alaska—an event of immense importance to the Orthodox peoples of Alaska. The relics of Righteous Matushka Olga of Alaska were uncovered November 16, 2024; an event documented by the diocese.

Then Bishop Alexei was appointed the administrator of the Diocese of Alaska upon the recommendation of Archbishop David in October 2020; upon the repose of Abp. David, he was appointed locum tenens of the diocese by Met. Tikhon of Washington. Since his elevation to the episcopal throne of Sitka, a seat established and held by several Holy Hierarchs and Apostles to America, Abp. Alexei has worked tirelessly to travel the diocese and bring its affairs into order; he has served as both an energetic reviver of spiritual life in the diocese, and a compassionate father to the long-suffering Alaskan people. He has made effective use of social media to continue the evangelistic and pastoral work of his predecessors, showing the rest of the Orthodox world the beauty of the Alaskan Orthodox tradition.
