WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced Monday that the Department of Education will issue new guidance safeguarding the right to prayer in public schools. Speaking at the Religious Liberty Commission’s second meeting at the Museum of the Bible, Trump said, “To have a great nation you have to have religion.”

The president highlighted cases of students whose religious rights were reportedly violated, including a boy who said he was forced to read a book on transgender ideology at school and later faced bullying. “I believe kids like me should be able to live our faith at school without being forced to go against what we believe,” the student said.

Trump also rebuked Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) for recent remarks suggesting rights come from government rather than God. Calling Kaine “ineffectual,” Trump stressed, “It is tyrants who are denying our rights … we’re endowed by our creator with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The senator from Virginia should be ashamed of himself.”

Previously, UOJ reported that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. told senators that the Biden administration “twisted the data” on the abortion pill mifepristone to conceal safety concerns, including a high rate of medical complications for women.
