Forty-one parliamentarians of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine submitted a draft resolution on the abolition of state funding for the LGBT film "My Young Prince", the text of the draft is posted on the official website of the parliament.

The draft resolution on the appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers and other state authorities on the abolition of state support for the production of certain films for the protection of public morality involves not only the withdrawal of state funding in the amount of UAH 20 mln, but also monitoring of the actions of the State Film Agency. In particular, regarding compliance with the provisions of the laws "On the Protection of Public Morality", "On State Support for Cinematography", the procedure for making a decision by the Council for State Support for Cinematography and the procedure for holding a creative competition (pitching) approved by the decree of the Ministry of Culture on December 27, 2018 No. 114.

The MPs also propose to develop criteria for the effective use of public funds for cinema in order to prevent similar cases in the future.

“In a society in which about 67% of citizens are Christians, the plot of the film, which features an explicit homosexual context of the film using biblical themes, caused outrage. We are not against creativity, but are such products of creativity included in the priorities of the state in the current situation in the country?" noted in his Telegram channel one of the initiators of the resolution, MP Alexander Kachura.

The UOJ wrote that the State Committee for Cinematography of Ukraine will pay for a film about gays "My Young Prince", which blasphemously uses Christian symbolism and distorts "Our Father" prayer. This decision caused a wave of backlash. 60 MPs called on Zelensky to cancel public funding for an LGBT film. The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches sent an appeal to the President, Prime Minister and State Film Agency regarding the film "My Young Prince". The public union "Miriane", in turn, submitted a petition to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the prosecution of officials from the State Film Agency.
