First-Ever Serbian Orthodox High School Youth Retreat Coming to Texas This Fall

HOUSTON — The Youth Department of the Midwest Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church is excited to announce its first-ever Orthodox youth retreat in Texas, taking place November 14–16, 2025, at Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Houston.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Longin and support from Fr. Dejan Tiosavljevic, this retreat invites Orthodox high school students for a weekend of faith, fellowship, and spiritual growth.
The retreat will feature lessons on the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church, basic hymn singing, and discussions around Matthew 16:24 — “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” Activities are designed to build community among Serbian Orthodox youth in America and deepen their lifelong journey with Christ through confession, Holy Communion, and clergy-led conversations on real-world spiritual challenges.
Logistics and Accommodations
Participants will sleep in the church hall (boys and girls separated), with an option for outdoor tent camping and limited RV space for male volunteers. Students are asked to bring bedding or an inflatable mattress and indicate any special needs during registration.
Open to all Orthodox high school students, the event also welcomes volunteers and parents to participate in making the retreat a memorable and meaningful experience.
