GREENVILLE — On Thursday, Oct. 10, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., St. John of the Ladder Orthodox Church will be hosting an iconography workshop with their iconographer-in-residence, Seraphim O'Keefe.

According to a social media post from the church, O'Keefe studied classical art after high school in the Republic of Georgia, which led him to be baptized into Holy Orthodoxy at the age of 19. After discovering the ancient art of Christian iconography, he has pursued it full-time ever since.

“I hope that this project, including the beautiful architecture and landscaping, will be an important legacy for this area, and a witness to the Gospel for everyone who comes to see it," O'Keefe said of the workshop, titled, "An Evening of Iconography in Color & Sound."

The iconographer lives in Greenville with his wife and their four children, where he has undertaken a decade worth of iconography work at the St. John of the Ladder parish.

Previously, UOJ reported on a podcast episode that Fr. Stephen Freeman recorded with Paul Kingsnorth. Fr. Stephen serves at St. John of the Ladder Church and is the author of the "Glory to God for All Things" blog. A piece of his that was inspired by O'Keefe's iconography can be found here.
