CHARLOTTE — With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej, St. Simeon Serbian Orthodox Church in Charlotte held its first-ever “Fall Family Day” on Sunday, Nov. 2, under the patronage of International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).

According to parish priest Fr. Srebrenko Vidaković, following the Divine Liturgy, Holy Communion, and parish fellowship, the church grounds were filled with “the joyful voices and laughter of many of our youngest parishioners,” who spent the afternoon playing and enjoying time with parents and grandparents.

As part of the event, Fr. Srebrenko led a workshop for parents on “Challenges of Orthodox Parenting in Modern Times.” A presentation also introduced a new playground improvement project designed to create a safer and more welcoming space for children’s recreation on parish grounds.

Recognizing that “being a parent in the spirit of the Orthodox faith is truly a great challenge,” Fr. Srebrenko announced plans to launch online parenting workshops where families can explore topics of child-rearing “in the spirit of the Orthodox faith and the Gospel.” Quoting St. John Chrysostom, he emphasized: “The home of Christians is a little Church.”

Fr. Srebrenko expressed heartfelt gratitude to IOCC for its support and for providing “Orthodox Prayer Journals” for the children, as well as to all who contributed to the event’s organization and to the life of the parish.
