A Year After Hurricanes Helene and Milton, IOCC Continues Rebuilding Lives

BALTIMORE, MD — One year after Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated communities across the southeastern United States, International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is highlighting ongoing progress in rebuilding homes and restoring stability for affected families. With recovery needs still pressing, IOCC’s efforts will continue into 2026.
Among those helped is Ms. Pat of eastern Tennessee, whose home was severely damaged by flooding from Hurricane Helene. After months of trying to manage repairs on her own, IOCC volunteers arrived to install new flooring—then expanded their support to demolition, plumbing, insulation, and major electrical work. IOCC also connected her with mold-removal specialists.
Her story reflects a wider effort: IOCC has completed muck-out and cleanup on 37 homes, undertaken 45 repair and rebuilding projects, and provided more than 100 mattresses to Tennessee residents. Supported by volunteers, partners, and donors, IOCC remains committed to guiding families toward safe, long-term recovery.
Previously, UOJ reported that the IOCC provided "Orthodox Prayer Journals" for children for an event in North Carolina centered on faith, fellowship, and Orthodox parenting initiatives.
