Chortkiv authorities: UOC should be banned in the city
Vladimir Shmatko, mayor of Chortkiv, Ternopil region, is convinced that there should be no UOC in the city, while the local parish should “promptly, democratically and civilly” move to the OCU. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“I am ashamed there are still people in Chortkiv who go to the Moscow church. By the way, there are famous people of the city among them. In addition, some displaced persons have also joined this community,” wrote Shmatko.
He said that at an extraordinary session of the city council, the deputies "adopted an appeal to the parishioners of this ‘church’ to make a decision on the transition of the whole parish to the OCU," and expressed the hope that this would happen in the near future "in a democratic and civilized way."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that supporters of the OCU under the leadership of Drabinko expelled the community of the church in Boyarka.
