Vinnytsia Eparchy: Transfers to a structure with no sacraments are absurd
On May 10, 2022, the Congress of clergy under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Vinnytsia and Bar took place in the Vinnytsia Eparchy. At the congress, the priests expressed a clear position on the impossibility and absurdity of the so-called transfer to the newly created organizations, including the OCU, whose ordinations and sacraments are invalid reports the official website of the Vinnytsia Eparchy.
Also, the clerics of the eparchy were unanimous in the opinion that the decision on changing the status of the UOC is exclusively in the competence of the Council of Bishops.
"In the situation of war, we must pray more and actively help the AFU military and the displaced. A quick and unprepared solution to church-administrative issues only distracts from the Church's mission during the war and increases division and discord in society," the diocese said in a statement on its website.
As earlier reported, the Union of Orthodox Lawyers issued a statement on illegal attempts of local officials and politicians to stop activities of the UOC communities.
