Poroshenko's party calls for confiscation of property of UOC communities
Petro Poroshenko's political party "European Solidarity" demands the imposition of sanctions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the confiscation of funds and property of all its communities and divisions, the "EU" said in a statement on its Facebook page.
The party statement claims at its meeting on May 12, 2022 that the Holy Synod of the UOC did not condemn the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. By seizing the accounts and property of the canonical Church, Poroshenko, aims to “eliminate the threats associated with the use (of the UOC – Ed.) ... to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine.”
The European Solidarity believes that the confiscation of property and other measures to liquidate the UOC is a “patriotic position” that will “ensure the unity of Ukrainian society and the State.”
Earlier, the Synod of the UOC noted that criminal actions against the Church result from Poroshenko's policy.
As reported by the UOJ, the Holy Synod of the UOC officially condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation.
