Vilna Metropolitan discusses independence of his Church with Polish Primate

On August 17, 2022, Metropolitan Innokenty of Vilna and Lithuania arrived in Warsaw at the invitation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Savwa of Warsaw and All Poland, reports the press service of the Polish Orthodox Church.

On the same day, His Eminence Met. Innokenty met with the Polish Primate. The head of the Orthodox Church in Lithuania told Vladyka Sawa about the steps the clergy of the Vilna-Lithuanian Diocese is taking to obtain the status of a self-governing Church.

The hierarchs also discussed the possible consequences of the Phanar’s schismatic activity, which attempts to create a parallel church structure in Lithuania under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

The fraternal visit of Metropolitan Innokenty of Vilna and Lithuania to Poland will last until August 20.

As the UOJ wrote, the Vilna-Lithuanian Diocese requests the Russian Orthodox Church to be granted the status of a self-governing Church.
