Russian Church discusses the Pope's visit to Russia with RCC
The Russian Church and the RCC are discussing the visit of Pope Francis to the Russian Federation, Vladimir Legoyda, head of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media of the MP, TASS reports.
Legoyda noted that the arrival of Pope Francis in Russia without the invitation of the Russian Orthodox Church is hardly possible.
“I don’t really imagine such a situation, because the pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church, and he is unlikely to go anywhere without the invitation of a religious leader,” Legoyda said.
He noted that the specifics of the visit are not yet available, since "this is one of the issues being discussed at the moment, so any statements will be made once the agreements have been reached."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Pope urged the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church "to speak the language of Jesus, rather than the language of politics."
