“Myriany”: The seizure of UOC temples is a knife in the back of AFU
“Myriany” (“Laity”) said on its Telegram channel that the pressure on the UOC and the seizure of churches is a knife in the back of the AFU.
"At a time when we are witnessing the liberation of Ukrainian land by the AFU, which includes many UOC believers, there is yet another attempt to seize the UOC church in Zazymie. This is just one of dozens of examples of UOC believers being stabbed in the back by their fellow villagers and by priests who have betrayed the Church," the NGO “Myriany” noted.
"Playing on a sense of patriotism, they (the OCU – Ed.) make denunciations on their fellow citizens, but if they were true patriots, they would instead join forces during the war to help the military and displaced people," representatives of the public union added.
“Myriany” recalled that the religious community of the Resurrection Church voted for faithfulness to the UOC at a meeting, but later the territorial community, together with the church's former cleric Anatoly Slinko, voted for a transfer to the OCU.
"Today the latter are trying to take the church away from the faithful, but thanks to the actions of the regional police everything is happening without provocation and without forceful seizure. We are following the developments that are taking place because of the betrayal of a former cleric of the UOC," the public union noted.
As earlier reported, the UOC church in Zazymie agreed to close and sit down at the negotiating table.
