Metropolitan Jonathan: Search in eparchy ordered and directed against UOC

The head of the Tulchyn Eparchy, Metropolitan Jonathan (Yeletskikh), denied the information disseminated by the media about the results of the search conducted by the SBU officer. Bishop Jonathan's statement was published on the website of the Tulchin Eparchy.

“I declare that the ‘evidence’ allegedly found in these premises has nothing to do with me or the Tulchyn Eparchy. I believe that the aforementioned actions have custom-made character and are directed against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a whole and against the authority of the priesthood of Tulchyn eparchy, bringing confusion among its clergy and believers. And in the future – the seizure of its Christ-Nativity Cathedral of Tulchyn for the benefit of the ‘privileged’ religious organization,” the Metropolitan of Tulchyn and Bratslav noted.

As reported, on October 11, the SBU conducted a search at Metropolitan Jonathan’s house. According to the police of the Vinnytsia region, Vladyka faces up to five years in prison.
