Polish Church Synod recognizes canonicity of Macedonian Church

On October 25, 2022, the Council of Bishops of the Polish Orthodox Church, presided by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland, recognized the canonicity of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, reports the official website of the Polish Church orthodox.pl.

During the Council of Bishops of the Polish Church, "the information of the Serbian Patriarch on the independence of the Orthodox Church in Northern Macedonia was read out".

"The Holy Council of Bishops gladly took note of this information and confirmed the prayerful communion with the aforementioned Church," the communiqué of the Polish Orthodox Church said.

As reported, the Serbian Patriarch presented the Tomos of autocephaly to the Macedonian Church. Three days later, the Synod of the EOC demanded that the word "Macedonia" be removed from the name of the autocephalous Macedonian Orthodox Church. In addition, Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church stated that the name for the Macedonian Church would be determined by a dialogue of the Local Churches; and on 25 August, the Macedonian Orthodox Church was recognized by the ROC.
