Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America Holds 98th Annual Convention

Metropolitan Tikhon emphasized, “The FOCA is dedicated to the whole needs of the Orthodox Church in America.”

PHOENIX, AZ — The 98th Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America (FOCA) Convention took place from July 15-17, 2025. The event was hosted alongside the 21st All-American Council (AAC). Over 200 delegates attended, adapting the schedule to prioritize the canonization of St. Olga and redefine FOCA’s mission.

The convention opened with a reception, which featured a screening of the documentary “Sacred Alaska,” followed by a Q&A with producer Silas Karbo. Metropolitan Tikhon emphasized, “The FOCA is dedicated to the whole needs of the Orthodox Church in America.” Bishop Gerasim of Fort Worth encouraged fruitful discussions and invited delegates to the 22nd AAC in Dallas.

FOCA President Basil Kochan stressed the organization’s vital connection to the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), saying, “Without the Church, we do not exist.” Key initiatives included supporting OCA seminarians, camps, and the 21st AAC Youth Program. A $10,000 Gifts of Love campaign aided the St. Theodosius Restoration Fund.

Discussions yielded plans for a donation-based model, scholarships for 2026 OCA camps, and an Emergency Assistance Fund for seminarians.

New interest in FOCA membership emerged, with Kochan urging members to strengthen ties beyond parishes, enhancing spiritual health through St. Andrew’s prayers.
