OCA Chancellor Visits Church of Poland
The Orthodox Church in America and the Church of Poland continue strengthening ties through charity, youth ministry, and fraternal visits.
WARSAW, POLAND — With the blessing of Metr. Tikhon and at the invitation of Metr. Sawa, Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), made an official visit to the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church from February 14–18, 2026.
The visit centered on an official audience with Metr. Sawa in Warsaw, where discussions focused on inter-Church cooperation, youth ministry initiatives, and the humanitarian work of ELEOS. The OCA has raised more than $700,000 in recent years to support ELEOS’ efforts aiding Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
During his visit, Fr. Alessandro concelebrated liturgical services in Lublin, participated in World Orthodox Youth Day events, and visited social-welfare homes and integration centers assisting displaced families. He also toured the Monastery of Sts. Martha and Mary on Holy Mount Grabarka and met with seminarians in Warsaw.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Tikhon presided at the funeral for Bp. Seraphim.
