Abp. Apostolos Issues First Archpastoral Message to Canada

TORONTO, ONTARIO — Abp. Apostolos has issued his first pastoral message to the faithful of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada, calling for unity, collaboration, and renewed commitment as he prepares for his enthronement on Sept. 19.

Addressing clergy, parish councils, Philoptochos societies, Archons, monastic communities, educators, volunteers, and the faithful, Abp. Apostolos centered his message on Christ's prayer "that they all may be one" (John 17:21). He emphasized that the Church's mission depends on believers working together, regardless of vocation or background, to proclaim the Gospel and bear witness to Christ's love.

The newly appointed Archbishop expressed gratitude to Ecumenical Patr. Bartholomew for entrusting him with leadership of the Canadian Archdiocese, saying he prays to serve with humility, compassion, discernment, and unwavering faithfulness. He also honored his predecessor, Abp. Sotirios, praising more than 50 years of dedicated ministry that helped shape Orthodox life in Canada and left a lasting legacy for future generations.

"A great and sacred mission lies before us," Abp. Apostolos stated. "Together, we are called to strengthen the spiritual life of our faithful, to nurture and inspire our youth, to preserve and promote our Orthodox faith and Hellenic heritage, to support and strengthen our families, and to expand the philanthropic, educational, and pastoral ministries entrusted to our care. This sacred stewardship belongs not to one person alone, but is a shared vocation and a collective responsibility bestowed upon all of us by God."
