Antiochian Online Music School Opens Registration for Fall 2026

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Registration has opened for the Fall 2026 semester of the Antiochian Orthodox Ecclesiastical Online Music School, offering clergy and church musicians an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Byzantine chant, choral music, and Orthodox liturgical practice through online instruction.

Offered by the Antiochian Archdiocese's Department of Sacred Music with the blessing of Metr. Saba, the program is designed for both beginners and experienced church musicians. In addition to courses in Byzantine and choral music, this semester introduces a new Western notation sight-reading class, providing students with additional tools for liturgical music ministry.

The curriculum also includes specialized instruction for clergy, focusing on chanting hymns, petitions, and Gospel readings, as well as a dedicated Typicon course covering the organization and structure of Orthodox divine services. Classes will meet once a week for one hour during the semester, which runs from Sept. 7 through Dec. 17, with a scheduled mid-semester break.

Enrollment is limited, and registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis according to submission time. Some courses may require placement testing before acceptance. Participants accepted into the program will receive payment instructions by email, with tuition due by Sept. 4 to secure a place. Organizers said the school continues to provide accessible liturgical music education for Orthodox parishes while helping cultivate the next generation of chanters, choir members, choir directors, and clergy.
