Bp. Irinej Visits St. Sava Camp During Week of Orthodox Formation
St. Sava Camp's second week blended Orthodox formation, outdoor adventure, and fellowship as young campers strengthened friendships and deepened their connection to the Faith.
SPRINGBORO, OH — The second week of St. Sava Camp brought together children, counselors, and clergy for a week of fellowship, Orthodox education, and outdoor activities at the Shadeland campground, continuing a cherished summer tradition of faith, friendship, and community.
The week began July 19 with campers arriving eager to reconnect with friends and participate in a joyful season of camp life. Under the leadership of counselors Nessa Wright and Luke Torbic, along with Dara Barach, Sara Topich, Milana Winowich, Daniela Radulovich, Maria Janiga, Jelena Dragovich, Anastasija Vukalo, and Stefan Zaric, the campers enjoyed a welcoming environment filled with activities including singing, arts and crafts, boating, sports, and swimming.
Camp Director Fr. Vedran Grabic and Fr. Dragan Zaric guided the children in daily prayers and religious instruction. Discussions throughout the week focused on Baptism, Creation, and Technology, encouraging campers to explore questions of faith and life.
A highlight of the week came with a hayride and fire safety presentation led by Keith, the camp caretaker and chief of the Springboro Fire Department. On Friday, Bp. Irinej visited the camp, where campers and counselors celebrated the 20th anniversary of his episcopal ordination with handmade cards, flowers, and gifts.
As the week concluded, campers and counselors departed Shadeland with lasting memories of friendship, prayer, and shared experiences, while looking forward to future gatherings at St. Sava Camp.
