Bp. Saba Encourages Unity During Meeting of Georgian Orthodox Communities

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Bp. Saba (Intskirveli) of the Georgian Diocese in North America gathered clergy and faithful from Georgian Orthodox parishes across the East Coast for a meeting focused on strengthening diocesan unity and addressing pastoral challenges facing the communities.

The July 26 gathering took place at the Archbishop’s Residence in Philadelphia and brought together pastors and parish representatives for discussion on administrative, liturgical, ecclesiological, logistical, pastoral, and bioethical matters. Bp. Saba welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of maintaining close communication between parishes, clergy, and the diocesan leadership.

Representatives of the Georgian Orthodox communities shared their experiences, concerns, and ideas for the future, while parish rectors also addressed the gathering. The diocesan secretary presented information regarding the updated diocesan charter and regulations concerning church marriages.

Following the discussions, participants continued their fellowship at St. George Georgian Orthodox Parish in Philadelphia, where traditional Georgian cuisine was served in an atmosphere of brotherly unity and hospitality.

Bp. Saba announced that meetings of this kind will continue as an opportunity for clergy and parishioners to collaborate more closely. The next gathering is scheduled to be hosted in August by St. Gregory Khandzteli Georgian Parish in New Jersey.
